We seek one or two experienced medical illustrators to produce anatomical illustrations, mostly for a lay audience, for the OHSU website.

OHSU will assign remote work on a per-project basis, with no guarantee of hours. You must be qualified to work as an independent contractor in the state of Oregon.

The work will entail efficiently producing illustrations for a range of needs. They could include anatomical drawings to illustrate a body part, a condition or the placement of a medical device (stent, pump, valve, catheter, etc.). Or they could illustrate a procedure, such as a diagnostic test or surgery. They could include a single illustration, a series, or an illustration with both a wide view plus a detail view.

Requirements:

  • A portfolio of published work illustrating:
    • The ability to convey detailed medical illustrations suited to a lay audience
    • Versatility and range in the type of work you can produce
    • Understanding of human anatomy and how to illustrate medical concepts in a way that regular people can understand
    • Rigorous accuracy and precision
    • The ability to represent a diversity of ethnicities and underrepresented communities
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to effectively collaborate and adjust

Preferred:

  • Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI) certification
